About Me
I began my career in the public sector after graduating with an MPA in Town, City and County Management from Appalachian State University. While in graduate school I worked as a Program Manager for a local not for profit called Carolina’s Healthcare Alliance. My interest in technology really began there as I started building databases to capture hospital bed capacity tracking for grant applications from Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA) data. There was also brief period when I worked in local government for Catawba County, North Carolina as a Budget Analyst Intern and then for the City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina as a Recycling Program Supervisor.
However, I left to work for American Express soon after and was there for 11 years until the financial crisis and my tenure ended in 2009. My resumé picks up my journey from that inflection point. I started working remotely for American Express when I was a New York, NY (WFC) employee but travelled there 3 weeks out of the month. Similarly I worked remotely for WEX and commuted to Portland, ME. Otherwise I was in office until 2020 when the pandemic necessitated remote work. I have been remote from eastern North Carolina since that time.
I have volunteered for USA Swimming for over ten years and my daughter swims for ECU in Greenville, NC. She recently graduated with her BS in Finance in 3 years. She is returning in the fall to get her MBA with her remaining year of NCAA eligibility. My son is a rising sophmore at UNCW and an aspiring entrepreneur.
I am a constantly educating myself about new software capabilities. I have written JSON for API User Stories to assist developer’s with feature development. I deployed API features globally via AWS and tested with Postman collections that I created and curated. I’ve worked on AI Chat Bot development and employed IBM Watson to launch scorecards that utilize algorithms.
Team Management Systems - Work Preference Web
While my work preference early in my career was heavy towards innovation and development I have evolved to manage broad software suites and expanded in the area of maintenance. I believe if I performed the evaluation again this image would reflect that evolution.
